Visiting the towns of Union Beach and Belmar was life changing.
People from those towns and so many others spoke of a “war zone” presence. Hurricane Sandy came in and crushed houses and neighborhoods. Where homes once stood, there were only memories of happier times. …CDs from a teens collection, a tattered stuffed animal from a baby’s crib and a single high heeled pump from a moms closet.
As we walked up and down the neighborhood streets we were joined by many others with their cameras and disbelief and their tears. At that moment we realized that we could never imagine the full emotions of what these families felt.
My goal for the Jersey Benefits Series is to highlight the good works of local people and tireless volunteers. I want people around the world, some who have never seen tragedy such as this, to get a glimpse of how determined individuals continually make a daily impact on the lives of those in need.
Maybe inspiring others to join in and help out?
If everyone could find a way to make a positive difference in one person’s life, this could create the power to change the world.
I hope you enjoy the video.
